Labor day weekend during Covid 19
USA – September 4, 2020 – According to an online news report posted on spacecoastdaily.com, the pandemic is changing traffic and travel plans throughout the United States. The situation has led to some questions regarding travel restrictions, the availability of resources, and how to prepare and pack for trips.
One tip from the AAA is to plan for stops because there are so many closed down businesses, and some places have fewer hours of service now than they would under normal circumstances. In part because of the fewer resources, packing is more complicated this year. Bringing plenty of food and water can reduce the number of stops and make the trip less complicated.
Many parts of the country require masks, so be sure to pack them in case you need to stop. Cleaning supplies can be helpful as well because you might have to do some of your own sanitizing to feel safe.
Of course, some of the AAA’s advice includes standard driving-related tips. Most crashes could be avoided through caution and adherence to the rules of the road. Using a seatbelt, avoiding distractions, slowing down, and never driving drunk are good ways to prevent a trip from turning into a tragedy.
Not only must drivers follow posted speed limits, but they must remember that weather and other dangerous conditions can mean that motorists must lower their speeds.
Before hitting the road, set the GPS so that you do not need to be focused on it once you are driving. Never use a phone to text, as this increases the risk of being in a crash by eight times. While talking on the phone is slightly less risky, it still means a four times greater danger of being in an accident.
Finally, buckle up every time you drive. Close to half of those killed in collisions were not using their seatbelts at the time of the accident.
