MEDFORD, Long Island, N.Y. — According to Newsday.com, Suffolk County police arrested a woman on suspicion of drunk driving charges after she allegedly plowed into a parked car and then into the store itself. The drunk driving incident happened on around 9:20 p.m. The 7-Eleven store in question is located at the corner of Horseblock and Station Roads in Medford. Fortunately, no one sustained any injuries in the incident.
Suffolk County police investigators charged the female driver with driving while intoxicated and placed her under arrest at the scene. Officers did not announce the name of the female arrested nor did they release any other identifying information. Law enforcement officers did indicate that the female driver slammed into a white van after pulling into the parking lot of the store. She then drove her vehicle into the building. Luckily, the vehicle did not go through the wall of the building. Rather, an employee stated that the building sustained minor damage from the vehicle striking the façade of the store.
Authorities did not say if the van which the alleged intoxicated driver hit was occupied at the time. Newsday cited a witness’ statement that the white van sustained damage to the rear and side of the vehicle while it was parked at the front of the store at the time of the collision. There was no indication given about the extent of the damage done to the van.
The suspected drunk driver was operating a mid-sized pickup truck when she crashed into the van and building. A photo of the truck shows the front bumper ripped away from the driver’s side. Additionally, the photo shows the sideview mirror on the driver’s side hanging by the driver’s door from a series of wires.
The alleged drunk driver was uninjured. She is innocent until proven guilty.
