BRONX, NEW YORK – A news story posted on cbslocal.com reports on a frightening and violent situation that happened in front of the Harry S. Truman High School. According to the news report, an SUV crashed into a group of students on the sidewalk. Law enforcement officers are still searching for the SUV driver and the driver’s passenger. The episode transpired in an area where several young children wait for transportation home.
One of the victims, a 7-year-old boy, described the pedestrian collision that occurred a few feet away from him. The third-grader witnessed the crash from his classroom. He stated that the event was a terrifying experience.
According to law enforcement authorities, a fight broke out between a group of pedestrians and three people in an SUV. One person for the group walked to the SUV and stabbed one of the occupants in the torso. The SUV driver then accelerated the vehicle and collided with several teens who were on the sidewalk.
A grandmother who was waiting to pick up her grandchildren from school watched the events unfold. She stated that the SUV driver was determined to run down the group of people and that she jumped out of her car to avoid being injured as the SUV driver moved toward her vehicle and collided with the woman’s vehicle.
Police reported that the driver and his third passenger ran away from the scene. The incident is currently being investigated. Several people were injured and transported to local area hospitals for treatment.
