
Elevator Accident in the Bronx
BRONX, NEW YORK – According to a news report posted on ny1.com, a six-year-old boy tragically fell down an elevator shaft in an apartment complex on Grand Concourse. The young boy sustained severe injuries and currently receiving medical treatment at a local area hospital. According to law enforcement authorities, the incident happened at around one in the afternoon.
Law enforcement authorities stated that they discovered the boy was unconscious as they arrived at the elevator fall accident. The boy was found lying on top of the elevator in the building’s basement. He was transported to Harlem Hospital, where he was listed as in critical medical condition. The boy was then relocated to a different hospital for additional medical attention.
The news report states that the investigation so far has not identified the reason for the fall or how the boy fell. According to the boy’s grandfather, he was with the boy and a caretaker prior to the incident. The grandfather states that the boy opened the door and he followed his grandson, but the boy ran quickly, and he was unable to catch up to the boy. The grandfather then tried to find his grandson but could not find the boy.
A Department of Buildings spokesperson stated that city inspectors are currently investigating the fall, and they are actively looking for any non-compliant conditions concerning the elevator doors. No other details concerning the tragic incident have been reported at this time.
