FDNY Fire Truck Engine Accident Injures Six
According to a news report posted on nypost.com, six people were injured after an FDNY fire engine crashed into a car and then collided with a Brooklyn storefront this past Sunday night. According to officials with the FDNY, the truck accident happened at 8750 Bay Parkway around 11:30 at night. The fire truck was responding to a building fire when the fire truck collided with the driver Mercedes Benz. The fire truck then lost control and collided with the building.
According to law enforcement, the Mercedes Benz driver and five firefighters were transported to local area hospitals for medical treatment. The five firefighters were transported to the NYU Lutheran Medical Center. They are all and listed in stable medical condition. The Mercedes Benz driver was also injured and was transported to Maimonides Medical Center for treatment of minor injuries.
Six residents living in the apartments above the store were evacuated from the building as a precaution. It was believed that the building was unstable and could collapse at any time. The police report did not state whether the accident and subsequent property damage would lead to criminal charges or not. The cause of the accident is still under investigation by law enforcement.
