
Garbage truck accident
LAUDERHILL, FL. – According to a news report published online at local10.com, one person was seriously injured in a collision involving a garbage truck that happened on West Commercial Boulevard in Lauderhill, Florida. It is not yet clear what caused the collision, and police officers are still investigating.
The accident happened in the morning in the area near Northwest 64th Avenue and West Commercial Boulevard. The Lauderhill Police Department and Local 10 report that a car of unknown make and model was traveling east on West Commercial Boulevard and somehow collided with a garbage truck that was in the process of turning left. It is not clear if the garbage truck was headed west before the turn.
The report did not say if one of the driver’s violated the right-of-way or if other factors, such as speeding or distraction, might have been involved in the collision. The company that owns the garbage truck was not named in the report.
Local 10 reports that the driver of the car was trapped following the accident and had to be freed by emergency responders. The driver was then transported to Broward Health Medical Center with what the news report said were serious injuries. The driver was not identified in the report.
The driver of the garbage truck was also not identified, and the report did not say if anyone in the truck was injured. The crash caused all directions of traffic on Commercial Boulevard to shut down. The closure spanned from Northwest 64th Avenue to 70th Avenue.
The Lauderhill Police Department is still completing its investigation of the accident. At the time the news report was posted online, officers had not released further information to the public. It is unclear if anyone was cited for the accident or if charges might be filed in the case.
