According to cars.com, Dodge is recalling more than 370,000 Ram HD and Durango trucks due to a defect that causes a safety issue that could cause traffic accidents. The news report states that this is the second recall in the past two months that affects heavy-duty 2500 and 3500 pickup trucks. The recall also affects certain Durango SUVs. The recall states that a software problem can prevent the trucks’ indicator light from operating correctly.
The recalled Dodge trucks include 2021-22 Dodge Durango SUVs, 2019-22 Ram 2500 pickups, and 2019-22 Ram 3500 cabs that have a gross weight rating under 10,000 pounds. The recall notice states that the affected vehicles’ antilock brake system control-module software can preclude the stability control malfunction-indicator light from turning on under certain conditions. This defect can increase the risk of being in a motor vehicle accident.
Dodge intends to resolve the issue by issuing recall letters to owners. The repairs will be conducted at Dodge dealerships, and their mechanics will update the ABS control module software at no charge. Dodge stated that it would start notifying owners on April 29, 2022. Customers who have questions can call the Dodge or run their vehicle identification number on NHTSA to read additional information about the recalls affecting your vehicles.
