Maxtrade Coolster Youth ATVs Recalled Due to Crash Hazard

WASHINGTON, DC – According to a recall notice from the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) and Maxtrade LLC, consumers who purchased Maxtrade Coolster youth ATV-3050-C and ATV-3050-B models are being warned to immediately stop using the ATV to avoid serious injury or death. According to the press releases, the Maxtrade youth ATVs “do not meet CPSC’s mandatory safety standards.” Maxtrade has stopped the sale of unsold ATV 3050-C and ATV 3050-B model after receiving a CPSC safety notice.

The recall notice states that the recalled youth ATVs are designed for use by children ages six years of age and older, as described by various retailers’ product advertisements and dimensions. However, the Maxtrade youth ATVs were deemed unsafe because the ATVs exceed the mandatory maximum speed limitations as well as other mandatory standard requirements for ATVs meant for children as young as six years old. The ATV poses a serious risk of the rider being involved in a high-speed accident that could result in serious injury or death if used by small children.

The Maxtrade youth ATVs were sold online and at retail dealerships nationwide. The online retailers included Amazon.com, Walmart.com, Familygocarts.com, YouthMotorsports.com, Killermotorsports.com, and Superiorpowersports.com. The offline retail dealerships included Affordable Excitement, ABC Bikes & Toys & Motorcycles, ATV Wholesale Outlet, All-Star Scooters, Dirt Cheap Motorsports, Dallas Power Sports, Mooney Motorsports, Rebel Racing, Mopeds & More, Rock City Cycles, Upstate Cycle, and Sooner Cycles.

The affected Maxtrade models include the ATV-3050-B manufactured from 2007 and the ATV-3050-C manufactured from 2008 until January 2021. The recalled ATV model numbers are ATV-3050-C and ATV-3050-B. Roughly 4,000 ATV-3050-B ATVs and 58,000 ATV-3050-C were sold since January 2016.

Maxtrade has reported to the CPSC that the company is working to give customers a remedy to the safety issue. Purchasers are asked not to allow anyone to ride the affected ATVs until their ATV has been remedied.
