Madd honoring victim of boat crash

The greater number of boats in the water is increasing the risks involved in boating under the influence.
The mother of a young man who died in a boat crash has joined the organization to help warn about the dangers of drinking and boating. MADD is now celebrating the life of the victim as his mother uses his story to warn others of the need to use caution on the water. The victim was 23 years old at the time of his death. Approximately twenty minutes prior to the tragic crash, the victim took a photo of himself holding a fish. Later that same day, his mother would arrive in the hospital to find him so severely injured that she was unable to recognize him. The young man passed away later that day. This week, MADD is holding a socially distanced boating tournament in honor of the victim. The only goal, according to the organization, is to eliminate fatalities caused by impaired drivers and boaters.
Florida is a popular place for recreational boating. The high number of boats in the area has led to the state also becoming the location of the highest number of boat-related fatalities in the country. Alcohol is just one of the factors that contribute to deadly boat crashes. Safety advocates remind anyone going out on the water to wear a lifejacket at all times.
