Teen injured in Brooklyn hit and run
STATEN ISLAND, NY – As reported by www.silive.com, a 49-year-old woman is wanted by police for questioning in a Brooklyn hit-and-run pedestrian accident that injured a teenage girl.
The New York Police Department (NYPD) released a shocking video that shows a teenage girl getting slammed by a vehicle and thrown in the air while attempting to cross the street. The teenager landed on asphalt and barely missed being struck by another vehicle. The video reveals that the driver who struck the teenager got out of her vehicle, spoke with the teenager briefly, and then drove off. The NYPD has identified the woman as a 49-year-old Staten Island woman with a last known address in Oakwood.
The teenage victim had allegedly told the 49-year-old woman that she could not leave the scene of the accident and that she needed to stay and help. However, the woman, instead of helping the victim, drove off. The teenage girl was lucky to survive the accident and did not sustain critical injuries. Pedestrian accidents are on the rise nationwide, and a significant number of pedestrian accident victims sustain critical or fatal injuries.
According to the New York Daily News, the 49-year-old woman has been arrested numerous times in the past, with one of those arrests for an alleged hit-and-run accident in 2007. Whether the woman was ever convicted of any hit-and-run criminal offenses is unclear. If the woman is found, she will likely face multiple criminal charges including, but not limited to, leaving the scene of an accident with an injured person, assault, reckless driving, and any other traffic violations that are evident on video or pursuant to witness testimony (including the victim’s testimony).
