Car through deli window
BROOKLYN, N.Y. — A 72-year-old woman accidentally slammed her car through the front window of a Brooklyn Deli, and then received a slap in the face which broke her glasses. The woman who allegedly slapped the shaken driver was taken into custody by New York Police officers and was charged with multiple crimes according to a report filed by NewYorkCBSLocal.com. The female driver was the only person who suffered who sustained any injuries in the incident that transpired in the Bath Beach section of Brooklyn. Police continue to investigate the incident.
The chaotic scene erupted in as a deli employee was having her morning coffee, according to an interview conducted by CBS 2. The deli employee said that she was standing near an ATM inside the deli having a cup of coffee when a sedan flew into the store without warning. The female driver exited her car and the deli employee “exchanged words.” The female deli employee allegedly slapped the driver in the face. The slap across the face broke the driver’s glasses.
Officers arrived to investigate the incident. The police conducted an initial investigation and determined that the deli employee should be charged with three crimes including criminal mischief, harassment, and intentional damage to property. The driver said that she suffered from a headache and was shaken up as a consequence of the strike to the head. The deli employee gave an interview to CBS 2 and said she did not hit the driver but overreacted because she was scared. The woman did say in the interview posted on NewYorkCBSLocal.com that she broke the woman’s glasses but was adamant she did not hit the woman. The deli employee exclaimed that she almost died and that is why she reacted in that fashion.
The police investigated further and determined that the driver of a FedEx van accidentally struck the woman’s car in the rear quarter while the woman was either about to park or was parked. The woman had her car in gear and accidentally hit the gas instead of the brake when she was hit from behind, and she flew into the store. No one inside the deli was hurt.
