LONG ISLAND, NEW YORK – As reported in online news articles published by nypost.comlongisland.news12.com, and dailyvoice.com, a tragic construction accident in Port Jefferson Station on Long Island left one man dead and two others injured.

Three construction workers from Queens and a pickup truck driver were involved in an afternoon accident in Port Jefferson Station on North Bicycle Path. The three construction workers were preparing to hoist cable into place above North Bicycle Path and had strung the cable across the street.

A 2016 Chevy pickup truck traveling southbound on North Bicycle Path got entangled in the cable, causing the pickup truck to flip and drag the three construction workers along with it.  According to witnesses, one of the construction workers was in a bucket at the time of the accident, and he was pulled from the bucket and thrown to the ground.  It is unclear which construction worker was in the bucket at the time of the accident.

One construction worker, a 22-year-old man, was transported to John T. Mather Memorial Hospital for severe injuries, but he was later pronounced dead. The two other construction workers, a 23-year-old man, and a 50-year-old man, sustained injuries.

The 50-year-old construction worker was transported to Stony Brook University Hospital where he is in critical but stable condition.  The 23-year-old construction worker was also transported to Stony Brook University Hospital for treatment of minor injuries. The details of the two surviving construction workers’ injuries have not been released, and it is unclear whether the 50-year-old construction worker’s injuries will be permanent.

The driver of the Chevy pickup truck, a 41-year-old man, did not sustain any injuries in the accident.  Local police have impounded the driver’s pickup truck for a safety check.

My husband and I could never had gotten through the stress and anxiety of this process without the knowledge and kindness of the Parker Waichman staff but most certainly, not without the help of our paralegal, Christine Morace. She's not only knowledgeable but has been calming and reassuring throughout. Thank you Christine.
