Hindu Priest Charged With Sexual Assault. Toronto Police charged a Hindu priest with sexual assault after two teenage girls alleged they’d been assaulted during classes at their temple.
The father of one 14-year-old girl said his daughter broke down and disclosed the abuse to a teacher in late December.
The Etobicoke man said he learned of the alleged abuse, and a suspect’s arrest, only in recent days. After the girl disclosed the abuse, the man said his daughter’s school contacted his sister-in-law one day in December. Police then took the girl to 23 Division to make a formal statement.
“She was shaken up,” the father said Monday, during an exclusive interview with The Etobicoke Guardian. “It’s somebody you trusted. She couldn’t take it anymore.”
The man said his daughter attended a youth group at the temple for instruction in Hindi, Yoga and film songs every Friday night for a few years.
A second 14-year-old girl the man described as his daughter’s cousin also reported to police she had been sexually assaulted during classes at the temple.
One of the girls was 11 years old when the alleged assaults began, police said.
“I don’t know how many other kids this happened to,” the father said, explaining his call to the media. “My daughter came forward (to police). I want other kids to come forward, too.”
Police arrested and charged a man with 11-sex-related offenses Jan. 7. The man appeared in court and was released on bail. Conditions of bail require him not to preside over or attend at services where children may be present.
The accused is a Hindu priest at two Toronto temples.
Rudy Madho, 53, of Concord, ON is charged with four counts of sexual assault, three counts each of sexual interference and sexual exploitation and one count of invitation to sexual touching.
