A sexual abuse claim against a former priest The Roman Catholic Diocese of Burlington has paid $150,000 to settle a Priest Sex Abuse Case against a former priest.
As part of the settlement of the case filed by Robert Douglas II, 38, of Burlington, the diocese admitted it knew the sexual history of the Rev. Alfred Willis and still allowed him to work with children. Willis served as a priest in Burlington, Montpelier and Milton before being expelled from the priesthood in 1985.
Douglas said he was 13 when Willis sexually abused and exploited him
Douglas said he was 13 when Willis sexually abused and exploited him at St. Ann’s Catholic Church in Milton in 1979. The diocese said it was aware of allegations against Willis that first surfaced when he was in seminary in Maryland.
