BAY SHORE, NY – According to an online news report posted on patch.com, Suffolk County law enforcement officers reported on a sideswipe accident that injured seven and tragically killed two in Bay Shore, Long Island, New York. The collision happened on Fifth Avenue by Reil Place in Bay Shore at around 6:30 p.m. on Friday evening. According to the Suffolk police, the motor vehicle accident caused severe personal injuries to many of the occupants.
According to the police accident report, a 28-year-old man was operating a Kia Sportage SUV southbound along Fifth Avenue in Bay Shore. The man’s Kia SUV was suddenly sideswiped by a southbound Mercedes Benz car at around 6:30 p.m. The sideswipe accident caused the KIA SUV to spin into a wooded area, and the Mercedes Benz collided with a tree.
Two occupants riding inside the Mercedes Benz were transported to Southside Hospital to receive medical treatment for personal injuries sustained in the accident. A third passenger riding in the Mercedes Benz, a 22-year-old man from Bay Shore, was riding in the back seat and sustained minor personal injuries. He was also taken to Southside Hospital, and he was released from the hospital a few hours later.
The Kia SUV driver, his wife, and their two children were transported to Good Samaritan Hospital Medical Center in West Islip, New York. They were all treated for personal injuries sustained in the motor vehicle accident.
Law enforcement impounded the two motor vehicles for safety checks. The accident is currently under investigation by law enforcement. No criminal charges have been filed at this time. The Suffolk Police are asking for witnesses of the accident to contact their department.
