Vehicle crashes in home
HICKSVILLE, Long Island, N.Y. — A family in Nassau County was getting ready to turn in for the night when a sports utility vehicle plowed into their residence. ABC 7 NY reported that the crash occurred just before 10:00 p.m. at the intersection of Woodbury Road and Bethpage Road in Hicksville. The driver of the SUV and a 54-year-old male resident went to the hospital for treatment of injuries. They are expected to survive. Coincidentally, this crash was not the first time this home had been hit by a car in 2019. There was no indication at this time if Nassau County Police would charge the SUV driver with any offenses relating to the crash.
The people living inside the home at the corner of Bethpage and Woodbury Roads immediately knew what happened when they heard the sound. It was the same sound they heard several months earlier when a vehicle careened into their home. In March of 2019, a truck slammed into the front door of the home and nearly missed children who were inside of the residence.
On this occasion, they said the SUV lost control, hit a traffic pole, and then plunged into the house. The residents have no idea why the SUV did not stop at the intersection and kept going into their home. Debris from the collision struck and injured the 54-year-old man. The residents say that this crash also narrowly missed the children inside.
The people who live in that home want the property owner to install protective fencing in front of the home to ward off errant vehicles. Additionally, the people asked for the public’s help as well. They asked people driving by to remember that children live in that home. The residents want motorists to slow down and drive cautiously through the area. They said that traffic speeds through that intersection all day long.
