Florida motorcyclist accident
JEFFERSON COUNTY, NY. – According to a news report posted online at nny360.com, a motorcyclist from Florida was tragically killed in a traffic accident that occurred in Jefferson County, New York. Authorities are still reviewing the case and trying to determine what factors might have been involved in the crash.
The crash happened in the evening on U.S. Route 11, near Kirby Road in Jefferson County. The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office and NNY 360 report that a motorcycle was traveling northbound on the highway and tried to pass several other motorcycles in front of it. Deputies say that in attempting to pass, the motorcycle lost control going around a curve and ended up leaving the roadway.
The motorcycle reportedly crashed off of the roadway, after which two motorcycles that it had just passed crashed into each other. It is not clear at this time what circumstances led to the collisions. Deputies reportedly suspect that speeding might have been involved, and they are still investigating to determine if this is correct.
NNY 360 reports that the person riding on the first motorcycle was tragically killed in the accident. He was identified in the news report as a 44-year-old man from Cantonment, Florida. It does not appear that any passengers were on his motorcycle at the time of the collision.
NNY 360 further reports that the person riding on one of the other motorcycles was injured and taken to Samaritan Medical Center. He was identified as a 47-year-old man from Adams Center, New York. The extent of his injuries is not known. The third motorcyclist, identified as a 30-year-old man from Watertown, New York, was not injured, the news report says.
The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office is still investigating, and deputies had not released additional information at the time of the report’s posting online.
