Long island man dies in motorcycle crash
STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — A resident of Uniondale, Long Island died in a motorcycle crash over the Memorial Day weekend. Silive.com reported that the motorcycle crash happened on Saturday, May 25, 2019, around 8:30 p.m. in Wantage, New Jersey. Troopers from the New Jersey State Police investigated the crash. Their preliminary investigation revealed that the 38-year-old motorcycle rider, for reasons unknown at this time to the investigators, shows that the motorcycle rider crossed into the oncoming lane of traffic and collided with another vehicle. New Jersey State Police still have the particulars of the crash under investigation. They did not issue any criminal charges after their preliminary investigation.
The reporting state troopers said that the 38-year-old motorcycle operator from Long Island was heading south on Loomis Avenue and veered into the northbound lane of travel without warning. The motorcycle collided with a Hyundai Elantra in the opposite lane according to NJ.com. The investigating troopers described the crash as “head-on.”
Not only did the wreck kill the motorcycle operator, but the collision also inflicted severe injuries on the driver of the Elantra. Emergency medical technicians arrived at the area of the horrific crash and requested a medflight for the injured motorist. The air ambulance flew the badly injured driver to Morristown Medical Center for treatment of severe injuries. The reporting trooper said that the woman, who was the sole occupant of the Hyundai, was in stable condition at the hospital.
The troopers’ initial report to the media did not include information about whether the motorcycle operator wore a helmet before colliding with the northbound car. They are still trying to ascertain why the male drove his Kawasaki motorcycle into oncoming traffic. The troopers did not say whether either party was under the influence of alcohol or drugs at the time of the crash. However, the troopers did reiterate that they did not issue any criminal or civil charges to the surviving driver.
