Garden State Parkway
TOMS RIVER, NJ – According to Patch.com, a collision that killed four men. The accident happened in the morning on the Garden State Parkway.
The victims have been identified as 21-year-old Kevin Quispe-Prieto, 23-year-old Jimmy Quispe-Prieto, 24-year-old Victor Lugo, and 23-year-old Robert Ordenana. Kevin was the driver of the vehicle, an Infiniti G37. The Infiniti drove into the rear end of a tanker truck. All four of the men died at the crash scene.
Lugo was working for the Lakewood Public Works Department at the time of the collision. He wanted to someday become a police officer. Ordenana was a Marine and had been serving since 2014. Kevin and Jimmy Quispe-Prieto were brothers who both went to the Toms River High School. Kevin was a student at Wilkes University where he studied computer science. Jimmy’s social media account indicated that the 21-year-old had a great interest in art.
Large trucks present dangers to other drivers on the road because they are enormous, unwieldy and cannot stop quickly. Additionally, smaller vehicles can run under the trailers leading to extremely deadly crashes. About 66 percent of overall fatalities in accidents involving large trucks are people who were other vehicles. When looking at just the statistics for crashes between large trucks and passenger vehicles, the percent of victims made up of people in smaller passenger vehicles is an overwhelming 97 percent.
People should exercise extreme caution when driving around these vehicles and remember that trucks cannot stop fast or swerve quickly and that drivers of large trucks have huge blind spots.
