About 7,500 <"https://www.yourlawyer.com/practice_areas/product_liability">Enamel-Coated 8-Inch Cast Iron Skillets sold on QVC have been recalled, the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) just announced. The CPSC is advising consumers to stop using the recalled products immediately, and notes that it is illegal to resell or to attempt to resell a recalled consumer product.
Small pieces of the enamel coating can pop off when the skillet is heated, posing a burn hazard to consumers. To date, the firm has received five reports of enamel popping off of the skillet, resulting in two reports of consumers receiving minor burns.
The recalled Enamel-Coated 8-Inch Cast Iron Skillets, which were manufactured in China by the Meyer Trading Company Limited, of Hong Kong, China, were sold through QVC’s televised shopping programs, at qvc.com, and QVC retail and employee stores from August 2009 through September 2010 for between $28 and $35.
This recall involves Technique brand Enamel-Coated 8-Inch Cast Iron Skillets with two pour spouts and a ribbed underside. The interior portion of the skillet is cream while the exterior was sold in three colors: Sage, blue, and red. The brand “Technique” is printed on the bottom of the pans.
The CPSC is advising consumer to immediately stop using the recalled skillets. Known purchasers were mailed instructions for obtaining a full refund. Consumers who purchased the skillets at a QVC store should return the skillets to any QVC store for a full refund.
