A raft of new studies provides proof that <"https://www.yourlawyer.com/topics/overview/Cell-Phones-Cause-Cancer-Radiation-Exposure-Lawsuit-Lawyer">cell phone radiation can impact human health in a variety of ways, a group of scientists claim. The new research on cell phone radiation, all of which was published in the past two years, was presented at a meeting in Istanbul, Turkey convened by the Environmental Health Trust, along with the Turkish cancer society, and Gazi University.
The conference comes a month after the Environmental Health Trust launched its global campaign for safer cell phones. The campaign is designed to alert some five billion cell phone users worldwide that heavy use of phones next to the body increases infertility, cancer and neurological problems.
All of the studies presented at the Istanbul conference were highly preliminary and conducted on rabbits, mice and rats, according to a report in The Los Angeles Times. The findings suggested that non-ionizing radiation emitted by cell phones and the base stations that broadcast cell phone signals may cause significant cell damage.
In a statement, the Environmental Health Trust claimed these new independent studies offer “stunning proof” that digital signals from cell phones disrupt DNA, impair brain function and lower sperm count.
According to the Los Angeles Times, studies presented at the Istanbul conference included:
* One which found that mice exposed to cell phone radio frequency emissions for two hours per day of were less able to learn and rerun mazes. This could indicate that that cell phone radiation impacts spatial memory, which aids in navigation.
* A study that found pregnant and non-pregnant rabbits exposed to six minutes a day of electromagnetic radiation led to the release of “secondary messengers, such as free radicals,” which in turn destroyed DNA and fat molecules. However, the babies born to the pregnant animals were born without any defects.
“This work provides a warning signal to all of us. The evidence justifies precautionary measures to reduce the risks for every one of us,†Prof. Wilhelm Mosgoeller, a researcher from the Medical University of Vienna who presented at the conference, said in the Environmental Health Trust’s statement.
The Istanbul conference was chaired by Dr. Devra Davis, author of “Disconnect: The truth about cell phone radiation…†Joining Dr. Davis as co-chair was Prof. Nesrin Seyhan , World Health Organization (WHO) and NATO advisor who is head and founder of Biophysics Department and Bioelectromagnetics Laboratory at Gazi University in Ankara and founder of the Non-Ionizing Radiation Protection (GNRP) Center.
