Flying Food Group’s of Lawrenceville, Georgia is recalling all of its U.S. Department of Agriculture- (USDA) and U.S. Food and Drug Administration- (FDA) regulated products, including sandwiches, parfaits, wraps, plates, and salads, over concerns the products have been contaminated with the dangerous and sometimes deadly Listeria monocytogenes bacteria.
No illnesses have been reported, to date, in connection with this problem; however, it is important to note that this foodborne illness can take some time to manifest symptoms after ingestion of the contaminated food. The potential contamination was discovered during sampling and testing conducted by the Georgia Department of Agriculture. The production of all products at the Lawrenceville facility has been voluntarily suspended pending a full investigation into the source of the problem.
Listeria monocytogenes is an organism which can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, frail or elderly people, and others with weakened immune systems. Healthy people may suffer short-term symptoms such as high fever, severe headache, stiffness, nausea, abdominal pain, and diarrhea; Listeria infection can cause miscarriages and stillbirths among pregnant women
This recall expands a July 19th recall that was implemented at the request of the USDA and, now, includes products made for Core-mark Atlanta Division, Race Trac, and Starbucks. Core-mark Atlanta Division products were distributed to retail outlets in Alabama, Georgia, and Florida; Starbucks products were distributed to retail outlets in Alabama and Georgia. Race Trac products were distributed to retail outlets in Georgia. Following is the breakdown of additional recalled products:
