About 10,000 <"https://www.yourlawyer.com/practice_areas/product_liability">Sagittarius Sporting Goods Master Forge Five-Burner Gas Grills have been recalled due to fire and burn hazards, the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) just announced.
The recalled gas grills were sold at Lowe’s Stores; were manufactured by Sagittarius Sporting Goods, of China; and were imported by LG Sourcing, Inc. of North Wilkesboro, North Carolina.
The flexible rubber hose on the gas tank can come into contact with the burner box, causing the hose to melt and rupture when the grill is lit. This poses a fire and burn hazard to consumers. To date, the firm is aware of two complaints of the hose melting and rupturing. No injuries or property damage have been reported.
This recall involves Master Forge five-burner, stainless steel gas grills. The name “Master Forge†is located on the grill hood. The model number â€L3218†is located on a label inside the left front door of the grill.
The recalled gas grills were sold exclusively at Lowe’s stores nationwide from September 2009 through November 2009 and retailed for about $500.
The CPSC is advising consumers to immediately stop using the recalled grills and contact Sagittarius to obtain a free repair kit. Sagittarius can be reached toll-free at 1-800-444-6742 between 8:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. Eastern Time, Monday through Thursday, and 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. on Friday.
We have been following the issue of defective and, sometimes, dangerous imports making their way into this country from China. The 10,000 recalled gas grills, which were manufactured by Sagittarius Sporting Goods, of China, are just one of many recalls and issues concerning defective products, food, and medicines imported into this country from China.
In 2008, nearly 80 percent of all product recalls in the U.S. involved imports from China. Products such as dog food, baby formula, toys with lead paint, and even pharmaceuticals like heparin were found to have been made with toxic materials and other counterfeit ingredients that have long put American consumers at significant health risks.
Also making news is the ongoing and massive Chinese drywall disaster involving imports from that country; the first Chinese drywall lawsuit begins this month.
