Charcuterie La Tour Eiffel of Montreal, Canada, just issued a recall of all of its Summersweet seafood mousses and dips over fears the products could be contaminated with the dangerous, sometimes deadly, <"https://www.yourlawyer.com/topics/overview/listeria">Listeria monocytogenes pathogen, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) just announced.
The product recall involves all lots of the following products. Specific product codes can also be accessed on the FDA website.
• Smoked Salmon and Spinach Mousse
• Mousse Smoked Salmon and Spinach
• Mousse Smoked Salmon and Dill
• Crab and Roasted Red Pepper Dip
• Lobster and Shrimp Dip
• Smoked Salmon and Artichoke Dip
• Crab and Fine Herb Dip
• Mardi Gras Shrimp Dip
The recalled mousses and dips are packaged in various sizes, sold in retail outlets, and were distributed in New York, Pennsylvania, Georgia, Massachusetts, New Jersey, Florida, California, and Texas. Consumers are advised to return the product to the store where purchased for a full refund. To date, there have been no reported illnesses associated with consumption of these recalled products.
The potential for Listeria contamination was discovered after samples from two lot codes of Charcuterie La Tour Eiffel salmon and spinach mousse tested positive for Listeria monocytogenes. All products from those lot codes were placed on immediate hold and were not released into the marketplace. All production of Summersweet mousses and dips has been suspended pending the outcome of the investigation to determine the source of the problem.

For susceptible populations, infection with the
Listeria pathogen can cause significant illnesses linked to the central nervous system, the developing fetus, and placenta. Consumption of food contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes can cause Listeriosis, a potentially fatal foodborne Illness that infects about 2,500 people in the U.S., killing 500 each year.
Listeriosis symptoms are high fever, severe headache, neck stiffness, nausea, abdominal cramps and pain, and diarrhea. Pregnant women are 20 times likelier to be infected and Listeriosis can kill fetuses, prompt premature births, can lead to hearing loss or brain damage in newborns, and can prompt neurological effects and cardio respiratory failure in adults.
