A school bus accident left dozens of New Jersey high school students injured in New City, New York. State police say one school bus rear-ended another while exiting the Palisades Interstate Parkway at Exit 11. Fortunately, there were no major injuries. The school buses were carrying students who attend Northern Valley Regional High School in Demarest, New Jersey.
According to Associated Press, the accident occurred on October 17th just after 2 p.m. All injuries were considered minor, and 40 to 60 students were taken to the hospital for bumps and bruises.
A Suffolk County Transit bus was involved in a multi-vehicle crash on the Long Island Expressway late last month. Newsday reports that the accident occurred when the driver of a Pontiac sedan tried to move from the right lane across the roadway into the HOV lane, and collided with a Chevrolet which “spun out and crashed into the guard rail on the right shoulder,” Suffolk County police stated. The bus also “spun out” and hit a pickup truck in the left lane, which then grazed another sedan. There were no passengers on the bus. The accident did not result in any life-threatening injuries. The multi-car crash occurred in Islandia, shutting down the westbound LIE between Exit 59, Ocean Avenue, and Exit 58, Old Nichols Road.
A fatal bus accident in Newark this summer killed two people and injured 18 more. ABC 7 reports that one New Jersey Transit bus T-boned the other at North Broad Street and Raymond Boulevard. The force of the collision was so strong that one bus was nearly broken in half. The accident claimed the lives of the driver of the Route 59 bus and a 49-year-old passenger. Among the 18 injured, six were reported to be in critical condition.
