Target has recalled its LED Flashlight Sets over burn and fire hazard, the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) just announced.
About 55,000 6-Piece LED Flashlight Sets are involved in the recall. The defective Target LED Flashlight Sets were manufactured in China; imported by Target Corporation, Minneapolis, Minnesota; and sold exclusively at Target stores, nationwide, from October 2010 through December 2011 for about $10 per set.
When turned on, the recalled Target LED Flashlights can heat up, smoke, or melt, which poses fire and burn hazards. To date, Target has received reports of four incidents with the flashlights, including two minor burn injuries to consumer’s hands.
This recall involves Target’s 6-Piece LED Flashlight Sets, which are made of silver plastic with black rubber around the handle and light base. The flashlight sets bear UPC code 490021010049 on the back of the package and were sold in sets of six: Two small flashlights measuring about three inches in length, two medium flashlights about six inches long, and two large flashlights measuring about 7 ½ inches long.
The firm is advising consumers to immediately stop using the defective flashlights and return them to any Target store for a full refund.
