Types of Cancer Due to 9/11: Cancer Types Covered Under the Zadroga Act
The Zadroga 9/11 Health and Compensation Act, named after New York Police Department detective James Zadroga, was established to help those who have suffered from illnesses or injuries due to their exposure to toxic dust and other health dangers at Ground Zero and the other crash sites. Many of the individuals who participated in the rescue and recovery efforts following the attacks have since been diagnosed with a variety of illnesses, including many forms of cancer, because of their exposure to toxic dust. Both those who directly responded to the 9/11 attacks and those who lived or worked near Ground Zero are eligible to make Zadroga claims for compensation.

What Are the 9/11 Cancer Types?
In the years since the 9/11 attacks, researchers have founds links between exposure to the chemicals at Ground Zero and dozens of types of cancer. More than 50 forms of 9/11-related cancer are eligible for coverage under the Zadroga Act. The WTC cancer list includes:

Who Is Eligible to Make Zadroga Claims?
Any first responder who worked at Ground Zero and later became ill is eligible to file for compensation under the Zadroga Act. This includes 9/11 rescue and recovery workers who also took part in the World Trade Center toxic dust settlement. That settlement, which was finalized in 2010 by New York City, the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey, and a number of contractors involved in Ground Zero cleanup efforts, set aside more than $600 million for 9/11 first responders who suffered respiratory ailments and other health problems because of their exposure to toxic dust.
Those who responded to the crash sites at the Pentagon and in Shanksville, PA, are also eligible to make a VCF claim and seek assistance from the WTC Health Program.
In addition, people who lived or worked in the area enveloped by the dust cloud can seek Zadroga Act compensation if they have contracted an illness, including cancer, due to 9/11 toxic exposure.
