UPPAbaby Strollers Are Being Recalled. Approximately 79,000 UPPAbaby 2015 CRUZ, 2015 VISTA strollers and 2015 RumbleSeats are being recalled in the United States and Canada due to a potential choking hazard. The bumper bar, which has a foam covering, can present a choking hazard if the child bites it and removes a piece of foam. UPPAbaby, based in Hingham, Massachusetts, received 22 reports of children biting off a piece of bumper bar foam with no injuries.
The frame on CRUZ strollers are an aluminum alloy that are gray or black; there is also a black fabric toddler seat and a sunshade canopy made of colored fabric, with the UPPAbaby name and logo printed on the side. Under the seat, there is a black basket. The handlebars have “CRUZ” printed in white lettering.
UPPAbaby Strollers Are Made For Up To Three Children
The VISTA strollers are made for one, two or up to three children. They have either black or gray aluminum frames and a colored sunshade canopy. The handlebars have VISTA printed in white lettering on the handlebars and UPPAbaby is printed across the bottom diagonal rail of the stroller frame next a black, fabric basket.
The recall also affects a separate seat attachment called the RumbleSeat, which can be attached to the stroller frame and is sold in colors. The seat allows the child to ride rear facing, forward facing or reclined. The manufacture dates are from September 2014 to May 2015 and can be found on the bottom of the seat. The foam bumper is on all the strollers and the RumbleSeats.
According to Consumer Affairs, the products were all manufactured in China and sold from December 2014 through July 2015. They have been available through retailers including BuyBuy Baby and Amazon.com. The CRUZ stroller costs about $500, the VISTA $860 and the RumbleSeat $170. Customers are advised to stop using the bumper bar, remove it and contact the company for a free bumper bar cover and warning label.
