The boy was tragically struck and critically injured by a motor vehicle on Rockaway Boulevard at Lefferts Boulevard in Queens, New York. The crash occurred last Thursday afternoon.
The news report states that law enforcement officers have arrested a 68-year-old unlicensed driver responsible for striking and critically injuring the small child. Police stated that the driver, a man from Queens, was heading eastbound along Rockaway Boulevard by Lefferts Boulevard in South Ozone Park at around 2:30 PM last Thursday when he hit the boy who was trying to cross the boulevard.
Emergency Medical Services transported the victim to Jamaica Hospital, where he remains in critical medical condition.
The driver, who lives a few blocks from the scene of the crash, allegedly tried to flee the scene. However, he was quickly arrested by law enforcement. He was criminally charged with aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle and leaving the scene of an accident with a serious injury.
