Essential oil recall
According to a November 11, 2020 recall notice from the United States Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), Bolek’s Craft Supply is recalling its “Crafty Bubbles Wintergreen Essential Oil due to the risk of poisoning. The essential oils are packaged in amber 15 mL and 100 mL bottles with a black threaded cap. The words “Crafty Bubbles” and “Wintergreen Essential Oil” along with the volume quantity are printed on a white label located on the front of the bottles.
According to the CPSC warning, the product’s poisonous ingredients include the substance methyl salicylate, and amber bottles lack the child-resistant packaging that is required by the Poison Prevention Packaging Act (PPPA). The bottle’s black threaded cap is not child-resistant, which poses a risk of accidental poisoning should young children open the bottle and consume the sweet-smelling contents.
Bolek’s Craft Supply’s “Crafty Bubbles Wintergreen Essential Oil” was sold nationwide at Hobby Lobby stores and online at bolekscrafts.com, Petersen-Arne, Notions Marketing, HobbyLobby.com, and other retail websites starting in January 2009 through January 2020 at prices between $3 and $13. Purchasers are advised to immediately place the recalled essential oil product in a secure place that is out of reach of children. Purchasers may also contact “Bolek’s Craft Supplys” for a complete refund.
