Crafter’s Square Glue Gun Fire Lawsuits
BETHESDA, MARYLAND – According to a recall alert posted abc7.com, Dollar Tree has initiated a recall of over one million hot glue guns because of a serious fire risk. The recalled hot glue guns were sold at Dollar Tree and Family Dollar stores nationwide. According to Dollar Tree, the company has received at least seven reports of electrical malfunctions while the glue guns were being used by customers. Four fires were reported.
The Crafter’s Square Glue Gun was sold at Family Dollar throughout the United States from January 2022 through February 2022, nationwide at Dollar Tree stores from August 2020 until February 2022; and on DollarTree.com from August 2021 until February 2022. The Crafter’s Square Glue Gun was sold at a price of $1.
The recall report states that the Crafter’s Square Glue Guns distribute hot glue when the unit is plugged into a power outlet and the trigger is depressed. The recalled glue gun is made with plastic, is black in color, and has an orange tip and trigger. The affected glue guns have a silver UL printed on a label placed above the handle and have the words “GLUE GUN” and “XY-15302” printed on that label.
Approximately 1,025,000 glue guns have been recalled in the United States.
The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission is urging customers to stop using and unplug the Crafter’s Square Glue Gun and to return the product to any Family Dollar or Dollar Tree store for a complete refund. Online customers will be contacted and provided with additional instructions. Customers may also visit the websites of the retail stores for additional contact information.
