According to a news article posted on CBSBoston.com, DeWALT announced a chain saw recall that affects 8,500 chain saws sold at hardware stores throughout the United States. On January 26, 2022, the recall announcement stated that the affected chain saws can cause injury due to the saw remaining “on” when turned “off.”
This recall affected the DeWALT DWCS600 18-inch corded chain saws. According to the Consumer Product Safety Commission’s statement, the recalled chain saws can continue to run even though the switch is on the off position. The chain saw also can turn on when the saw is plugged into an electrical outlet. These incidents can result in severe injuries to the user.
The recalled DeWALT DWCS600 18-inch chain saws are yellow and have a black handle and motor cover. The saws also have date codes ranging from 2021 23-H5 to 2021 40-H5. The saws were manufactured in Mexico, and the units were sold between June 2021 and November of 2021 at a price of $130 and $150.
According to the report, the company did not have any injuries or deaths to report at this time. Consumers who purchased the recalled chain saws should “immediately stop” using the saws, the recall announcement states. Purchasers are urged to contact DeWALT to obtain a prepaid shipping label so the customers can return the recalled chain saw to receive a free replacement.
