Edsal 5-Tier Muscle Rack Shelving Units
WASHINGTON, D.C. – According to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, Edsal is recalling more than two million of its Muscle Rack Heavy Duty Steel Shelving Units due to the risk of injury. The recall press release states that the Muscle Rack Heavy Duty Steel Shelving Units cannot support the 800-pound weight load as its packaging states, potentially causing serious injuries to the consumer. Purchasers are asked to immediately stop using the recalled Muscle Rack Heavy Duty Steel shelving units and are asked to contact Edsal Manufacturing to obtain a full refund. This product safety recall affects the Edsal 5-Tier Muscle Rack Heavy Duty Steel Shelving Units that are designed for use in storing heavy items. The shelving units are gray or black-painted steel frames, and have five plywood shelves. The affected units have the following model numbers: CR3618, CR3618-BLK, CR4824, and CR4824-BLK. Models CR3618 and CR3618-BLK are 72-inches in height, 18 inches deep, and 36 inches wide. Models CR4824 and CR4824-BLK are 72 inches in height, 24 inches deep, and 48 inches wide.
Edsal has received at least seven reports of its Muscle Rack Heavy Duty Steel Shelves bending or breaking once heavy items were placed on top of the shelves. One accident reported resulted in the user suffering a broken toe when some items fell off of the shelving unit when the shelving unit broke.
The Edsal 5-Tier Muscle Rack Heavy Duty Steel Shelving Units were sold online Staples.com, Amazon.com, Walmart.com, and other online stores from January 2015 until September 2020 at a cost of between $80 and $90.
