American Angler Electric Fillet Knife Recall
According to an online news report posted on nj.com, Scott Fetzer Consumer Brands announced a safety recall of its American Angler Electric Fillet Knifes sold at Bass Pro Shops, Walmart, and Amazon.com. According to the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), the recall was initiated after the company ascertained that the knives posed a laceration hazard.
American Angler stated that the company had received 23 complaints from purchasers who reported that the trigger mechanism can become “stuck in the ‘on’ position.” The Consumer Product Safety Commission stated that the defect “can result in injury, although customers so far have not reported any.”
The affected American Angler Electric Fillet Knives were distributed to Bass Pro Shops, Walmart, Amazon.com, and other retailers.
To determine if your fillet knife is being recalled, Scott Fetzer advises customers to check for model number 32300, and look for the following UPC codes or serial numbers.
- AEK-OB-DS-003-1 079061007662
- AEK-OB-DS-008-1 079061010877
- AMK-KM-DS-003-1 079061025550
- AEK-OB-RB-004-1 079061010860
The model number is located on the handle’s base, and the serial number is located on the knife’s packaging.
Scott Fetzer urges its customer with the recalled knives to immediately stop using the knives, unplug the knife, cut the power cord, and photograph the destroyed knife. Consumers can send the photos to Scott Fetzer for a free replacement.
According to the CPSC, Scott Fetzer sold around 43,000 electric knives between January 2019 and October 2021. The recalled American Angler Electric Fillet Knives were available in 1-blade, 2-blade, and 5-blade models and were priced between $110 and $150.
