According to an online news report on miamiherald.com, WishGarden Herbs is involved in two more recalls in the past few days. WishGarden Herbs Cord Care Powder and Goldenseal Powder are being recalled due to possible contamination with the deadly Cronobacter sakazakii bacteria. WishGarden Herbs just recalled its Happy Ducts Compress, due to the same Cronobacter sakazakii contamination issue. The company stated that the possible contamination was due to “a supply chain issue.”
According to this recall, the recall announcement states that the use of Cord Care Powder and Goldenseal Powder, when contaminated with Cronobacter sakazakii bacteria, could lead to death. Infants and patients with compromised immune systems are at an increased risk of death.
The Goldenseal powder and the Cord Care powder are packages in one-ounce containers, and the powders are massaged on the skin.
WishGarden Herbs’ recalled Cord Care Powder is used to dry the newborn baby’s umbilical cord. The lot number for the recalled Cord Care Powder is P227 through P235, and the recalled powder has the UPC Number “6-56490-24730-4.”
WishGarden Herbs recalled Goldenseal Powder has lot numbers of P116 through P120, and the product has the UPC number “6-56490-64137-9.”
Consumers who purchased either product are directed to stop using the products immediately. If you or your baby shows signs of a medical problem from these powders or any other medication, you should first seek emergency medical attention.
