Parent’s Choice Rice Baby Cereal Recalled
According to an online news article on pvtimes.com, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration announced the voluntary recall of Walmart’s 8 oz Parent’s Choice Rice Baby Cereal. Walmart issued the recall after the baby food product tested above the FDA’s guidance for naturally occurring inorganic arsenic.
Walmart was notified of the test results, and then the retailer decided to pull the product off of its store shelves. The company also placed a register block on the Parent’s Choice Rice Baby Cereal at its retail and online stores to prevent any additional sales.
Last month, Maple Island Incorporated announced the recall of three lots of its Parent’s Choice Rice Baby Cereal manufactured for Walmart.
According to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA), the recall was a result of the FDA’s routine sampling. The FDA determined that three lots of Parent’s Choice Rice Baby Cereal tested above the FDA’s guidance for naturally occurring inorganic arsenic in food.
The Parent’s Choice Rice Baby Cereal lots affected by the recall were sold after April 5, 2021. The three lots of recalled baby food have a Lot #21083 and has a “Best if Used By” date of June 24, 2022; a Lot #21084 with a “Best if Used By” date of June 25, 2022, and a Lot #21242 with a “Best if Used By” date of November 30, 2022.
The baby food’s product numbers and “Best if Used By” date are located on the bottom left corner of the baby cereal packaging.
According to the FDA, consumers who purchased the recalled Parent’s Choice Rice Baby Cereal are urged to throw the product away or return the product to Walmart for a complete refund.
The FDA’s announcement also warned that scientific research has confirmed that decreasing exposure to toxic elements is vital to minimize potential long-term damage to the developing brains of children and infants.
