Dewalt Recalled Framing Nailers Due To Injury Hazard. Distributor DEWALT Industrial Tool Company, of Towson, Maryland has voluntarily recalled about 9,000 D51825 and D51850 Framing Nailers, the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) just announced.
The “DEWALT Nailers” have been recalled because the bump action trigger on the framing nailers could have been incorrectly assembled during production, which would allow the nailer to eject a fastener unexpectedly or cause the trigger lock-off not to function. This potential assembling error can pose a serious injury hazard to the user or bystander. To date, no injuries or incidents have been reported.
The “DEWALT Nailers”, which were manufactured in Mexico, were sold at wholesale distributors and retailers nationwide from January 2008 through September 2008 and retailed for about $280.
The CPSC is advising consumers to immediately stop using the framing nailers and contact “DEWALT” for instructions on receiving a free replacement bump action trigger. “DEWALT” can be reached toll-free at 1-877-437-7181 between 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. ET Monday through Friday or at the firm’s Web site at www.DEWALT.com
