STATEN ISLAND, NY – June 16, 2020 – According to an online news article posted on nydailynews.com, a pregnant motorist suffered a miscarriage after a speeding, unlicensed motorist, from New York City, struck the vehicle she was in head-on. The victim, a 28-year-old woman, was riding as a passenger in a 2018 Nissan Rogue. The driver of the Nissan Rogue was waiting to make a left hand turn off Hylan Boulevard and onto Cornelia Avenue on Staten Island. As the occupants in the Nissan Rogue waited their turn, their SUV was hit head-on by an unlicensed speeder. The unlicensed driver was driving a 2017 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The head-on collision took place at about 4 p.m., according to law enforcement. The impact forces pushed both motor vehicles into the woods. The pregnant woman was transported to Staten Island University Hospital North. The woman tragically lost her baby, according to the news report. The woman is in stable condition, cops stated on Sunday.
A passenger in the Jeep Grand Cherokee was transported to the same hospital. The passenger inside the Jeep Grand Cherokee is in stable condition, according to officials. The Jeep Grand Cherokee driver is facing criminal charges, which include reckless endangerment, assault, and aggravated unlicensed operation of a vehicle. The driver of the Jeep Grand Cherokee lives within 3 miles of the scene of the accident.
