BROOKLYN, NY – June 15, 2020 – According to an online news report published on WABC.com, three construction crew workers were seriously injured after an elevator shaft work platform gave way and sent the workers in free fall all the way to the bottom of the elevator shaft.
The construction accident took place in downtown Brooklyn on Monday morning at approximately 8 a.m. in a building located at 170 Tillary Street. Investigators stated that the investigation so far has ascertained the three elevator mechanics were standing on a platform inside of the elevator shaft on the fourth floor. Then the elevator shaft work platform broke away and sent the workers to the bottom of the elevator shaft. All three construction workplace victims were transported to Methodist Hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening personal injuries.
According to the Department of Buildings, the accident investigation is ongoing, and that there are enforcement actions pending the completion of the accident investigation.
