According to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, Skip Hop has issued a recall of its Silver Lining Cloud Activity Gym due to the risk of the raindrops on the cloud toy’s ribbon detaching. Should a small child detach the raindrop from the toy’s ribbon, they could place the small object inside their mouth and choke. There are more than 470,000 units affected by this safety recall.
The plush toy has a two-sided character face cloud and three raindrops attached to its ribbons. A plastic ring secures the cloud toy to the Silver Lining Cloud Activity Gym. The product’s style number is 307150 and has a UPC number of 879674025721. Only the Silver Lining Cloud Activity Gym that comes with raindrops on the cloud is affected by the recall.
This product safety recall only applies to the United States, Canada, and Mexico. Customers are asked to remove the raindrops with scissors, take a picture of the cloud toy with the toy raindrops removed, discard the raindrops in the household trash, and then submit the photo at skiphoprecall.com. Then the customer will receive a $10.00 Skip Hop gift card with a free shipping code. So far, Skip Hop has received at least twelve reports of children placing the toy raindrops in their mouths. The product was sold nationwide and online from June 2016 through December 2022 for approximately $85 on the following website: Amazon, Buy Buy Baby, Target, Babylist, Macy’s, Kohl’s, Barnes & Noble, and at specialty stores nationwide.
According to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), there were an estimated 174,100 toy-related injuries treated in hospital emergency departments in 2019. Of those injuries, an estimated 44% involved children younger than five years old. It’s important to note that these are only the reported injuries, and the actual number of injuries may be higher.
