The CPSC’s investigation revealed multiple violations of federal safety regulations for infant sleep products, highlighting the urgent need to discontinue the use of these loungers.
The DHZJM Baby Loungers fail to meet several critical safety standards. These products lack a stand for stability, have sides that are too short to securely hold an infant, and feature a sleeping pad that is excessively thick, all of which contribute to a suffocation hazard. Additionally, there is an enclosed opening at the foot of the lounger that poses a risk of entrapment or falls. The loungers and their packaging also do not include the mandatory tracking label required for children’s products, further complicating the issue.
Despite the CPSC issuing a Notice of Violation to the seller Fuzhou Kanouka Xinxijishu Co. Ltd, operating as Youlike Baby Store, no satisfactory recall has been agreed upon. The loungers were available for purchase on Amazon.com through various sellers, including SUNFLOWER SHOP, Altor Enterprises LLC, Infgreate, SooZon, Humorous Egg, KMOVEON, and Amazon Export Sales LLC, from January 2020 to November 2023, priced between $17 and $49. The tag on the exterior of the loungers bears the name “DHZJM.”
Parents and caregivers are strongly urged to stop using and destroy any DHZJM baby loungers they possess. To properly destroy the product, unzip and disassemble it, then cut up the lounger cover, sleeping pad, and side bumper, and dispose of the pieces in accordance with local waste disposal policies. This action is crucial to prevent any further risk of injury or death.
The CPSC advises that the safest sleep environment for infants is on a firm, flat surface in a crib, bassinet, or play yard, using only a fitted sheet without any additional blankets, pillows, or padded crib bumpers. Infants should always be placed on their backs to sleep and should be moved to a safe sleep environment if they fall asleep in an inclined or upright position.
