Kia Sportage Loose Battery Nut Lawsuits
A news report posted on carscoops.com states that the 2023 Kia Sportage is a very popular motor vehicle that has a potentially dangerous defect. Kia has recently issued a recall notice concerning its 2023 Sportage models. According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), 2023 Kia Sportage vehicles have an improperly assembled battery B+ terminal. The defect can cause the battery terminal nut to loosen, causing the engine to stall out while driving. Moreover, Kia warns the B+ terminal issue could also trigger a fire while driving because of an electrical arch. This can increase the risk of accidents with injury or death. Kia will contact all affected owners via illumination of the battery light.
There are over 19,700 Kia Sportage models affected by this recall, and all of the affected models were manufactured from January 12, 2022, until August 8, 2022. Kia stated that affected owners would be notified by first-class mail, and the owners would be instructed to bring their autos to their local Kia dealer. Kia dealers will properly torque the battery terminal nut if necessary. Owners will be notified by September 23.
This recall comes a few weeks after Kia showed off its new 2023 Sportage PHEV, which is designed to outsell Toyota’s RAV4 Prime. The vehicles are priced at under $40,000 and are powered by a turbocharged 1.6-liter four-cylinder engine and a lithium-ion powered electric motor.
