NASSAU COUNTY, NY – An online news story posted on theislandnow.com, a car accident along Hillside Avenue Friday morning caused the tragic death of the driver and caused serious injuries to the passenger.
According to the Nassau County Police Department press release, an accident in New Hyde Park tragically killed one person and injured another person severely on Friday morning.
Accident detectives stated that a 2008 Chevy Impala hit multiple utility poles while traveling east along Hillside Avenue. According to law enforcement officials, the car came to a stop by the intersection of Devonshire Drive and Hillside Avenue.
Photographs taken of the accident show the rear of the car was elevated many feet off the ground, and a tree directly impacted the car’s front as law enforcement officials arrived at the accident scene.
The car’s driver, a 75-year-old man from Bellerose, was tragically pronounced deceased as law enforcement officers arrived at the accident scene. The 76-year-old man was taken to a local area hospital and was listed as in serious condition. None of the people involved in the accident had their names disclosed in the report.
Law enforcement officials stated that there did not seem to be any criminality related to the accident, but the accident investigation is ongoing.
