Full Speed Ahead Inc. has issued a recall of its Gossamer Pro AGX+ cranksets, citing concerns over potential fall and injury hazards. The recall, initiated on April 18, 2024, affects approximately 12,300 units sold in the United States, with an additional 250 units sold in Canada. The hazard arises from the possibility of the bicycle’s crank arms loosening and/or detaching from the crank/spindle, posing risks of falls and injuries to cyclists.
The recalled Gossamer Pro AGX+ bicycle cranksets, model CK-6037, were sold separately and also as part of bicycles, including popular brands like Cannondale, Canyon, Marin, Haro, Fuji, and Pinarello gravel brands. These cranksets are identifiable by the etching “FSA Gossamer Pro” on the front of the crankarm, with model and serial numbers located on the back of the crankarm, next to the pedal threads. Only serial numbers beginning with B1, B2, or B3 are included in this recall.
Despite no reported injuries, Full Speed Ahead has received 277 reports of bicycle crankarms loosening or detaching, prompting the recall. The potential danger posed by these defective cranksets highlights the importance of consumer safety and product liability regulations. Individuals who own bicycles with the recalled cranksets are advised to cease using them immediately and contact Full Speed Ahead for instructions on receiving a free dealer installation of a new replacement crankset.
Filing a Fall Injury Lawsuit
In cases where individuals have suffered injuries or damages as a result of using defective products like these recalled cranksets, they may have grounds to file a product liability lawsuit seeking compensation for their losses. Victims of such injuries may be entitled to various forms of compensation, including medical expenses, lost wages, pain and suffering, and more.
The process of filing a product liability lawsuit involves several key steps, starting with gathering evidence to support the claim. This evidence may include documentation of the injuries sustained, proof of purchase of the defective product, and any communication with the manufacturer or retailer regarding the issue. Victims will also need to identify and establish the liability of all parties involved in the production and distribution of the defective product.
Seeking legal representation from a knowledgeable product liability attorney is essential for victims pursuing compensation through a lawsuit. An attorney can provide valuable assistance at every stage of the legal process, from investigating the incident and building a strong case to negotiating with insurance companies and advocating for fair compensation in court, if necessary.
