According to an online news report posted on fortune.com, Mercedes-Benz has recalled approximately one million cars due to unsafe brakes. The recall affects Mercedes-Benz vehicles worldwide. Mercedes confirmed its recall to Fortune last Monday.

Mercedes-Benz reported that it identified a brake booster fault on some models that were made many years ago. The braking system recall states that sudden braking in affected Mercedes vehicles could cause mechanical damage leading to an increased risk of accidents. Mercedes-Benz is reaching out to the owners of affected motor vehicles and is beginning the recall process right away.

The recall process involves inspecting the recalled motor vehicles and replacing the parts if necessary. Those who have purchased the affected vehicles are urged not to drive the vehicles until receiving the free brake system inspection.

Mercedes reported that the defect was found in some R-Class minivans, ML and GL-Class SUVs. The recalled vehicles were made between 2004 and 2015. Mercedes did not state if they would replace the vehicles that have the braking fault.
