Urban Remedy’s Organic Revitalizing Tea
According to an online news report posted on thrillist.com, Urban Remedy has recalled its Organic Revitalizing Tea Tonic Strawberry Hibiscus Rose due to its connection with a current outbreak of Hepatitis A. The product’s strawberry ingredient may have been contaminated with Hepatitis A. The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) believes the strawberry tea is linked with the organic strawberries used in the product.
Urban Remedy issued the recall announcement and reported that the affected tea products were sold in 12-ounce plastic bottles. The organic strawberry tea has not been connected to any illnesses at this time. However, it is too early to declare that there were no injuries connected to the recall. Urban Remedy states that it contracts with Youngstown Grape Distributors, who co-manufactures the product. It is thought that this company purchased the FreshKampo organic strawberries, which are believed to be the origin of the Hepatitis A outbreak, per the CDC and FDA investigations.
Urban Remedy warns consumers not to drink the affected tea and to consult their local health department or health care provider if they have consumed the product to decide if a vaccination is necessary.
The Organic Revitalizing Tea Tonic Strawberry Hibiscus Rose tea was sold at retail stores based in Arizona, California, Colorado, Illinois, Kentucky, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Missouri, Nebraska, New Mexico, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Texas, Utah, Virginia, Washington, Wisconsin, and Wyoming. The Organic Revitalizing Tea Tonic Strawberry Hibiscus Rose tea was sold from May 17, 2022, to May 29, 2022, in those retail stores. Urban Remedy and the FDA are encouraging those who still have unused products in their possession to return them at the place of purchase to receive a full refund.
